Some Good News

Looks like we made the deadline for the print directory for the Art-A-Whirl!  You can find the shop, Live Fast Die Young Tattoos,  in the directory which goes to print this week.  The shop is also in the web directory, which we will be adding an image and bio to soon.  I'll be painting up a storm this weekend  in preparation for the show.

Mad Men Party

The shop, Live Fast Die Young Tattoos, will be at the Mad Men party on April 4, 2009, based on the television show by the namesake.  The show is set in the 1960s at an advertising agency, Sterling Cooper.  It explores the dynamics of men and women in the workforce at that time,  the values of the era and the conflict that ensues.
Live Fast Die Young will be sponsoring the event and giving away prizes, (tattoo gift certificates), for best dressed and best hair for both men and women.  Held at the 331 Bar on University Ave. in Nordeast Minneapolis. Our very own Laura Lou will be the MC for the event.  Wear your snappiest duds and meet us there!

One Dirty Bitch

I did this tattoo on pro-wrestler One Dirty Bitch, today.  We had a blast talking about all her recent wrestling adventures.  You can check out more of the tattoo work I have done on ODB on my website, or on my Myspace page.

Travis' Tattoo

I need to collage my collection of "Moon Eyes" tattoos! Travis came in today and added to the roster, this one on the collarbone...I'll have to add pictures of Joe's on his arm and the set of knuckles I did...

Happy Day!

My friend Jimmy stopped by the shop today with a hula hoop. He implied that he didn't have any use for it any longer, but wouldn't give it up easily. I showed him my hula-hooping skills and he was impressed, and understood the extent of my passion for the hoop. The hula hoop made my day! Yay spring! Periodically, however, from this point forward, I will need to take hooping breaks between tattoos...be forewarned.

Another Little Special

Photobucket

This truly will only be going on from 12-5, no exceptions, so I will have only a few slots open for shamrocks. But those of you who are interested are more than welcome to come and get one. First come first served. This will probably be my last tattoo special for a bit.

I finished this piece today, (a gypsy, day-of-the-dead skeleton woman), on a really great client, Seth.  He traveled quite a ways to get tattooed by me both sessions!  Seth is part of a pit-bull rescue organization, which I was able to do some art work for a year or so back.  Seth and his wife often foster pit-bull puppies until a suitable home is found.  When we started this piece over a year ago, Seth's wife was barely pregnant, and had to surrender her appointment to her husband, (tattooing pregnant women is a no-no.)  This visit, I got to meet their five month old baby...what a cutie!
Friday the 13th tomorrow, can't wait for the insanity and non-stop tattooing to begin.  All day at the shop, (Live Fast Die Young Tattoos), we will offer $13 tattoos of the number 13.  First come, first served, come and see me there!

This week.....

*The little Miss Kitty caricature is a drawing from my friend and former co-worker, Bryan Lewis of the Ink Factory in Hudson, WI.  He drew it for my birthday party flyer....it's hilarious, as is Bryan.  I miss all my Hudson pals!!

Friday the 13th!!!! You heard it at LFDY first!

Last time we did this, (Friday February 13th), we had a ridiculous turnout, and I was the only tattoo artist doing the tattoos.  This time, we have all the artists on board, and are utilizing six stations to expedite the wait time.  No one will be turned away, however, this will be on a first come, first served basis.

A new shop in close proximity to Live Fast Die Young Tattoos decided it would be a good idea to steal our Friday the 13th promotion this time around....shame, shame, shame, is all I have to say to them.  Get your own ideas.  You heard it here first!

Should have done this yesterday...

Meant to post last night, but I decided I had better spend some time working on some paintings...The North East Minneapolis Arts Festival, the Art-A-Whirl,  is just around the corner and the shop will be included in the weekend of festivities.  I want to make sure I have an abundance of new work to showcase during the open house.  For more information on the festivities check out: http://www.nemaa.org.  The shop missed the deadline for the guidebook, but will be listed on the web directory within the week.

Well, here I go.  I've never blogged before...well, not in the true sense of blogging.  The word itself kind of bothers me.  But, here I am.  I'm actually looking forward to it.  A little more adult and professional than myspace, and this way I can add more information, in a more day-to-day, diary type log. Enjoy!
